Otoplasty in Denver, CO
Are you unhappy with your ears?
If you feel your ears are too large for your face or stick out too far, otoplasty surgery can help. Maybe you or your child is teased at school for their ears. Otoplasty surgery, or ear pinning, can reduce the size and improve the shape of the ears, so that they sit more naturally along the face.
Otoplasty will not change the placement of your ears on your face or affect your hearing. It is a relatively quick surgery that can be done in Dr. Misch’s Denver, CO facial plastic surgery office using just local anesthesia.
Who is an otoplasty candidate?
You are a candidate for an otoplasty if you are unhappy with the size or shape of your ears. Ideally, ears are angled 20-30 degrees off the head. If your ears stick out farther from your head than you would like, an otoplasty can bring them back to a more naturally occurring angle. Patients may undergo otoplasty at any age- from childhood into adulthood.
You should be overall healthy. It is also important to have realistic expectations and a positive attitude to help you navigate your recovery!
What are the benefits of an otoplasty?
An otoplasty can reduce the size of the ear and bring the ears back so that they sit at a more natural angle on the head. Ideally, an otoplasty surgery helps your ears not be noticed. A natural ear blends harmoniously into the face and head.
An additional benefit of an otoplasty is its ability to be performed in office, awake, under only local anesthesia. This allows for a quicker surgical recovery.
What is otoplasty recovery like?
You may have ear pain or a mild headache for a few days after an otoplasty. Some bruising and swelling of the ears is normal and will decrease within 1 week. Any stitches used will either be absorbable or removed within 1 week of surgery.
As with all surgeries, full results can take time. Dr. Misch will be with you every step of your recovery!
